Boot to your XP CD and enter recovery console. Use it to log into your current system and then enter the following commands one at a time answering Y when prompted: FIXBOOT then FIXMBR

When done remove the CD and reboot.

Turn off the annoying iTunes sounds by

1. Open command prompt in iTunes program folder (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
2. Type command: iTunes.exe /setPrefInt "force-accessibility-off" 1 and press Enter
3. Restart iTunes

Navigate to the following registry,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

If the superfetch and prefetch features are disabled, their registry value should be 0, please check if EnablePrefetcher and EnableSuperfetch are both set to 0.

And for fixing VMWare: Add an exception for "System". To do this, open VIPRE.

Usually this problem of undeletable files and folder is because of Access control list of these object is associated with SID of old operating system user accounts and these users are not present in your windows 7, effectively data is owned by nobody or non-existent user.

By default, dragging a window to the edge of the screen in Windows 7, will auto expand it to full screen. Turn off this feature via

Control Panel / Ease of Access /  Ease of Access Center / Make the mouse easier to use

and tick "Prevent windows..."
